Keyboard shortcuts
ToolNexus is keyboard-friendly. This page is the canonical reference for the shortcuts that work across the public surfaces of the site. Individual tool workspaces add their own action and copy shortcuts; those are documented inline on the tool page itself.
Global shortcuts
| Keys | Action | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Ctrl / Cmd + K |
Focus the home search input | On the home page, jumps straight to the global tool search and selects the current query so you can overwrite it immediately. |
Escape |
Dismiss the active overlay | Closes the shortcuts dialog, the theme browser, command palette, or any open modal. |
T |
Cycle theme | Steps through Light → System → Dark, then your full theme list. Ignored while focus is inside an input, textarea, or any contenteditable surface. |
/ |
Focus the directory search | On /tools, jumps into the catalog filter without scrolling. |
Tool-page shortcuts
Tool pages add their own shortcuts on top of the global set. The common ones:
Ctrl/Cmd+Enter— run the active action (Format, Validate, Convert, etc.) on tools that have one.Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+C— copy the current output to the clipboard on tools that render a result.Ctrl/Cmd+S— download the output as a file on tools that support export.
If a tool exposes a shortcut, the corresponding button on the tool page shows the chord in a kbd chip next to the label. If you do not see a chip, the action does not have a dedicated shortcut.
Discovering shortcuts in product
The Ctrl/Cmd K chip inside the home search bar opens an in-page reference dialog with the global shortcuts. The same set is listed here, with the addition of the tool-page chords above.
